Designed over an underlying grid of sacred geometry it will take you on a journey along its beech and yew lined paths, passing pools, secret gardens, banks of scented lavender, sculptured benches, tunnels, an inner labyrinth and onwards… after many twists and turns you discover the wishing stone in a wild flower garden..

So it is more than a maze. It is a series of interlocking gardens, a place for contemplation, discovery and sculpture.

Dedication and completion date: Midsummer 2000, Green and mature by 2005.

I rearrange the landscape to create within nature a theatrical stage where we can play or interact with the unfolding celebraion of nature’s beauty, moods and seasons. At their quietest, my gardens provide a sanctuary for retreat and contemplation.

Garden Planting

I collaborate with my wife who is a knowledgeable gardener, plantswoman and respected garden writer (Charlie Ryrie), to source excellent quality plants from specialist nurseries. We favour a naturalistic style of planting within a strongly designed layout, using predominantly hardy perennials, trees and shrubs. Designs range from relaxed to formal, and include historic themed gardens using appropriate period plants. We plant to encourage the natural pest/predator balance in a garden and to support non-chemical gardening methods.
